Mosaic’s Seniors’ Month Celebration

Seniors’ Month is celebrated every June in Ontario. Every year Mosaic has a special Seniors’ Month Celebration for our community, and 2018 was no different! This year we had music from Tom McGill and a number of fantastic organization’s displayed their information for the community. It was yet another fantastic event for Mosaic in celebration of Seniors’ Month!
First Link Memory Café Aga Khan Garden Tour

What a way to end the 2017/2018 First Link Memory Café Season! On a beautiful Tuesday morning, on May 29th, 2018 Mosaic ended its Memory Café season by taking members on a Garden Tour at the Aga Khan. We walked through the Aga Khan Museum’s garden and learned about Islamic gardens and the history Aga Khan Musuem’s Garden itself. It was a lovely, informative and tranquil tour! Following the tour the group enjoyed lunch together in the garden. It was a fantastic day and a wonderful way to end the 2017/18 First Link Memory Café Season. British High-Tea Lecture Series

Balancing freedom with peace of mind! On Thursday, May 24th, 2018 Mosaic hosted a British High Tea and Lecture Series, an informative afternoon with lovely treats! This event featured four different topics including: making the decision to move by Cheryl Thompson and Linda McEwan from Sotheby’s International Realty Canada, Decluttering and organizing a move by Debbie Harding from Red Coats, differences between retirement and long-term care by Kelly James from Delmanor and finally the importance of staying social by Kevin Lopes from Mosaic Home Care Services. It was a very special lecture series for our attendees who were able to gather a wealth of knowledge and resources.
An Introduction to Mindfulness

Mindfulness is now practiced by millions of people around the world thanks to research and media exposure. On Friday, May 11th, 2018 Mosaic welcomed Sash Whiting, Health Promoter from Anne Johnston Health Station – Tobias House, to our Toronto Office at the CNIB Centre to speak to our community about how to practice mindfulness and the benefits of doing so. Attendees were left with some of the key concepts of mindfulness, the research behind it, and was to practice. It was a fun and very informative session that our community enjoyed!

Mosaic welcomed Leslie White into our Community Resource Centre on Friday, March 9th, 2018 to host an interactive 90-minute workshop where attendees spent time creating their own unique pieces of work! Cutting out images, words, phrases, colours and textures, each piece of creative art was unique and a reflection of the individual. It was a fun filled afternoon that allowed people to socialize and embrace their own creativity!
Painting at Mosaic’s Monthly Social Time

How does an afternoon painting with new friend’s sound? On Monday, February 26th, 2018 Mosaic hosted its monthly Social Time event at our Toronto Office at the CNIB Centre where attendees sat down and painted together while sharing memories and experiences with other members of the community. It was a fun afternoon where new friendships were made and attendees enjoyed an afternoon immersed and contributing to their community!
Essential Oils 101 at Mosaic

Tara Johnston spent the afternoon at Mosaic’s Toronto Office at the CNIB Centre on Friday, February 23rd, 2018 speaking to the community about the benefits and how to use essential oils. It was an informed presentation that allowed the community to know the how to apply essential oils, where to get them and the benefits of them!
Annual Remembrance Day Ceremony

Mosaic was proud to host its 2nd annual Remembrance Day Ceremony in our community at The Shops on Steeles & 404 on Saturday, November 11th, 2018. We were happy to see amazing support for our veterans and current members of the armed forces from our community! It was an honour to see many members from the armed forces in attendance at our ceremony and made it even more special for our community to have them attend. Mosaic Pole Walking Group Pot Luck

On Thursday, October 19th 2017, Mosaic’s Pole Walking Group held a Pot Luck. Since the beginning of July members of the community have been meeting every Thursday morning at Mosaic’s Toronto Office to go for a walk through the park space near Sunnybrook Hospital. To celebrate our commitment to exercise, the Pole Walking Group held a Pot Luck where everyone brought food to share while enjoying each other’s company. After close to 4 months of walking with each other every week, the Pot Luck was a great way to end Mosaic’s Pole Walking Group until next July!
